The bread of all breads! Classic, flavorful, goes with any meals…literally.

The perfect ratio of butter and garlic with a twist of the most popular seasoning in my pantry, the Everything Bagel seasoning. You have not lived until you add this seasoning to your foods! Totally optional, but necessary!

You can also use dried garlic and some sea salt or none at all. I go big on the flavors here because the bread itself is not that flavorful. Cheese is a great twist for week night meals, this makes a lot so I am sure it will last a family of 4 for a couple days! Unlike me, I could eat the loaf as a meal!

This was made with a standing mixer, you can knead by hand and it counts as your workout for the day. BONUS! That also means you take an extra piece off at dinner, too!

I give a gap in measurement in flour because you can add if the dough is too sticky. It will slap the sides of the bowl and that way you know it is done. I like to dust my hands with a pinch of flour to help the dough not stick to me, do your best to form a ball. Doesn’t have to be perfect!

This bread is comforting and super soft. Worth the time on a weekend to try it out! Great for sliders or mini sandwiches for game day.

Garlic bread slices with parsley — Sugar Face Bakes

Key Ingredients You'll Need

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese, optional
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons fresh or dried oregano
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Everything Bagel seasoning, optional

How to Make Garlic Bread

  1. Using a standing mixer, combine yeast, sugar, and water. Let sit 5 minutes or until foamy.
  2. Add milk, softened butter, salt, 4 cups bread flour and cheese if using. Using the hook attachment, combine on low for 7 minutes. Add another 1 cup, knead another 2 minutes. Dough should be soft and slightly sticky clearing the sides of the bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic, parsley, oregano and everything bagel seasoning.
  4. Spray or line with parchment a standard 9×5 loaf pan.
  5. Slap a little flour on your hands and pull dough by the pinch full, roll into 1 inch balls, dip in butter mixture, place in pan. Repeat until dough is gone, ending with 2 layers worth.. I’ll have around 20-23 balls depending on my mixture. Save the remaining butter mixture.
  6. Place a towel over the dough, let sit for 1 hour.
  7. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Place loaf pan on a sheet pan (in case butter splatters during baking process), slide in oven for 35-40-45 minutes. Mine takes 45 minutes.
  8. Remove bread, let sit 10 minutes.
  9. Re-heat butter mixture and pour over warm bread.
  10. Serve warm or room temperature. Allow to cool completely before you store in air tight container or zip lock bag in refrigerator. Freeze up to 2 months.

*Love the everything bagel seasoning in this, truly a delight. Rosemary, thyme, Italian seasoning, it is all good in this bread!
