My most decadent treat, the Valentine’s Day chocolate torte with hazelnut spread. A versatile recipe that is sinful with coffee, wine, hot cocoa, or a cold glass of milk. A little goes a long way and serves a crowd. I always add in a bit extra espresso powder if I want a deep, mocha flavor and sometimes I add in M&M’s to plese the big kids and younger kids! A drizzle of hazelnut spread from Nucolato and fresh strawberries were topped on this Valentine’s Day chocolate torte.
How To Make Chocolate Torte
This chocolate torte is flourless. However, say you run out of cocoa powder and your in a pickle. Use a 1/3 cup flour and bake according to directions minus 2 minutes. The residual heat will continue to bake the center and the cake will become a velvety smooth bite rather than a hard cake -like bite. The texture of this torte is rich in smoothness because I ask you to sift the coco powder. Cocoa powder is known for drying baked good out (in addition to flavor) so by sifting the flour we reduce the likelihood of clumps. This cake yields a texture that is to die for! We simple use one bowl and that is it. The rest is going down the list, adding as you go!
Nothing says “it’s real love” like a slice of chocolate torte.
Foolproof Chocolate Cake Recipe
The reason I add this recipe is foolproof is because you cannot mess this up unless you tried hard! Double check your measurements and follow my step-by step directions. Worse case scenario, you over bake this chocolate torte by a minute. That is it! It will still disappear in seconds served on game day, birthday’s, girls’ night in, family parties, etc. Ensure you have the proper materials and try to stick to the recipe. I have a friend that told me she doesn’t follow recipes- well, this one you will want to!
Chocolate Torte Recipe Variations
Add a teaspoon full of espresso powder if you desire a mocha cake, add chocolate chips for my chocolate chip lovers or shredded coconut. You can add any mix-in you want. love toffee bits you can find in the baking aisle of your local grocery store or crush up butterfinger bars or peanut butter cups for extra fun. Fold it all in and bake in your prepared baking dish for the correct time. I love hazelnut spread by the spoonful so I figured I would share with my torte! I drizzled a spoonful *or two* or my cooled torte and topped with fresh strawberries for Valentine’s day. My Valentine’s Day Chocolate Torte with Hazelnut Spread is good for any time of the year!
