Southwest Cheese Ball Recipe

This creamy Southwest Cheese Ball combines cheddar cheese, bacon, green chiles, and Tex-Mex flavors into one irresistible appetizer. Easy to make ahead and perfect for football parties, holiday gatherings, and potlucks, this crowd-pleasing cheese ball is always one of the first appetizers to disappear.

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese finely grated
  • 4 oz can diced green chilies drained
  • 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning use the remaining seasoning for my sheet pan chicken fajita recipe!
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp diced jalapeno fresh or pickled, pat dry
  • 2 tbsp green onion sliced thin

Coating

  • ½ cup diced red bell pepper
  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp cilantro minced
  • ¼ cup green onion sliced thin
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Instructions
 

  • Mix all cheese ball ingredients together until creamy.
  • Shape into a ball and wrap tightly. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Mix coating ingredients together. Roll chilled cheese ball in coating.
  • Serve with crackers and vegetables.
