Ingredients
  

Beef Filling

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic roasted, see notes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp pickle relish
  • 1 tsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Assembly

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 8 slices cheese sharp cheddar, or any
  • dill pickle chips
  • shredded lettuce

Toppings

  • 3 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper, optional.
  • Whisk together sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet, over medium heat , caramelize onions in olive oil.
  • Add beef and seasonings; cook thoroughly.
  • Slice Hawaiian rolls horizontally.
  • Layer cheese, beef, pickles, more cheese, and top buns.
  • Brush tops with butter mixture.
  • Bake 15–18 minutes.
  • Add lettuce and sauce before serving.
