What really WAFFLES my feathers is when a simple recipe is hard to follow! Not this one!
A fool proof method to this easy, homemade recipe featuring the key ingredient, buttermilk. This recipe, like my others, you can add mix-in’s, you can top with honey instead of syrup like I did in the photo below, you can even add cinnamon to spice up your life!
Breakfast should be simple and delicious just like this one with a crisp outside and a tender inside ready for you to say “FORK YEAH” after your first bite!
I have in the notes to substitute dark brown sugar for granulated, it just give the waffles a depth of flavor that I love. You CAN also substitute buttermilk with milk and a squirt of acid but I say just get the real deal. It is like trying to substitute white chocolate for dark chocolate, not the same!

- 2 1/4 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk and butter. Then add in eggs.
- Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients, fold to combine until slighty lumpy
- Pour onto waffle iron, after cooked place in a oven safe dish with lid to slide in oven to keep warm while making the rest.
*I like to substitute dark brown sugar for half the white sugar, give the waffles a little caramel taste!
