Dividing Measurements

Don’t you just cringe when you really want some BEST ever (not kidding) chocolate chip cookies but you look in the pantry and have only 1/2 cup of sugar left? It can be frustrating but that doesn’t mean you can’t have cookies, you just can’t have 32!

Book mark this page for the next time you are looking to cut down a recipe or curious about making creating your own and trimming down on ingredients.

Original Amount One-half the amount
  1 cup   1/2 cup
  3/4 cup   6 tablespoons
  2/3 cup   1/3 cup
  1/2 cup   1/4 cup
  1/3 cup   2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons
  1/4 cup   2 tablespoons
  1 tablespoon   1 ½ teaspoon
  1 teaspoon   1/2 teaspoon
  1/2 teaspoon   1/4 teaspoon
  1/4 teaspoon   1/8 teaspoon

Remember, you can substitute fruits as well in recipes for sugar, eggs, and butter (sometimes). Can’t promise it will be the same, but it is better than nothing! Or as my mom says, “better than a stick in the eye!”
